A chip, a tap, and a record of what happened where

Symbious keeps a shared record of routine moments at the places you work: a delivery received, a room made ready, a safety walk done. Today these moments live in someone’s head for a few seconds and then disappear. A tap on a chip writes them down, so the house can see what happened and when.

How to record a moment
  1. Find the chipA small sticker at the place where the moment happens.
  2. Tap itHold the back of your phone against the chip for a second.
  3. AnswerA page opens with up to three yes/no questions, and sometimes a number to enter.
  4. RecordPress Record. The page says “Recorded.” You can close it.
What you will see
Phones

Android: NFC must be on. Hold the phone against the chip and the page opens.

iPhone: hold the top edge of the phone against the chip, then tap the banner that appears.

Thick cases and metal surfaces can block the tap. Take off a bulky case, or hold the phone slightly lower or higher on the chip.

Answer what you actually see

“No” is a normal answer. It marks the moment as needs attention so the house can fix the thing, such as a fridge running warm. It is never a mark against you. Answer what you saw, at the moment you saw it.

What an entry holds

  • The place the chip sits at
  • The date and time of the tap
  • Your yes/no answers and any number
  • A fingerprint that links it to the entry before it

What it never holds

  • Your name, face or voice
  • Camera or microphone data
  • Where you walk, or how long you take
  • Scores or rankings of any person

Managers see places and moments, not people. The record is never used to rate or discipline an individual. These limits come from the published Concordat, ten prohibitions dedicated to the public domain.

If something goes wrong

The phone does not reactCheck NFC is on, remove a thick case, move the phone slowly across the chip.
The page says “Unknown chip”The chip was not set up. Tell your supervisor.
No signalCheck your connection, then tap again. Nothing is saved until you press Record.
You answered wronglyTell your supervisor. Entries cannot be edited, so a correcting entry is added and the first one stays visible.
A chip is damaged or missingTell your supervisor. Do not stick on a replacement yourself.

Your rights and the house’s promises

  • You receive this notice in writing before the first tap.
  • The house owns every entry and can export it all as a spreadsheet at any time.
  • A chip is a sticker. It can be peeled off at any time, and nothing else is installed on your phone.
Who can look at the record: the house’s managers, on a dashboard. Ask your supervisor what it shows for your workplace.
